An exhilarating first for the Wake County sports scene is about to unfold at the WakeMed Soccer Park this Saturday, August 19th.
Located at 101 Soccer Park Dr, WakeMed Soccer Park is an impressive venue that has previously hosted many professional games and training, including a few NCAA Men’s College Cup matches in 2019 and 2020. Most recently, they held a 5-day-world-cup-style soccer tournament (with teams flying in from all around the world).
While many soccer games have been hosted at the park, this will be the first time American football is played there.
Four high school teams from across the county gear up for the inaugural football games to be played at this iconic soccer venue. This historic event, known as the “Wake County US Army Be All You Can Be Clash,” is set to take place on August 19th, featuring an exciting doubleheader showcasing the best of local high school talent.
The first game of the doubleheader will kick off at 4 p.m., featuring Apex Friendship High School going head-to-head with Millbrook High School. Following the first game, the spotlight will shift to the second match at 7:30 p.m., where Middle Creek High School and Fuquay-Varina High School will battle it out on the gridiron.
This event signifies a significant milestone for WakeMed Soccer Park, which has long been a symbol of soccer excellence in the region. The transition to host football games not only highlights the venue’s versatility but also provides local football fans with hope that more games may be played there in the future.
Tickets for the doubleheader are currently available for purchase, with a special incentive for early buyers. Those who secure their tickets today will enjoy a discounted rate of $12, while those purchasing tickets on game day will pay $18. This price includes admission to both matchups.
