Raising Cane’s Eyes Former a’Verde Site on Walnut Street

A development plan has been filed for a Raising Cane’s restaurant at 2300 Walnut Street, the former home of a’Verde Cocina + Tequila Library near Crossroads Plaza.

The filing is the first public signal that the chicken finger chain may be eyeing the site, which has sat vacant since a’Verde closed.

It is still very early, however. A Raising Cane’s representative told The Cary Report that “as of now, we cannot confirm any details for a potential location here at this time.”

A development plan filing is just the beginning of a long process. It does not mean the restaurant will actually be built. The plan still needs to go through Town of Cary review, and many filed plans never move forward.

The 2300 Walnut Street property sits in the busy Crossroads area, one of Cary’s most established commercial corridors. If built, it would join a growing list of national chains along the Walnut Street corridor.

Raising Cane’s has been expanding across the Triangle in recent years. The Louisiana-based chain is known for its chicken fingers, crinkle-cut fries, and Cane’s sauce.

We’ll keep watching the filings and update you if this one moves forward.
