As the sun sets on another memorable summer, Cary residents are invited to soak in the last rays of the season at the upcoming “Popsicles, Playtime & Pups” event, set to take place at Jack Smith Park on Sunday, August 13th. The event promises an afternoon of family-friendly activities, furry companions, and a chance to give back to the community.

Scheduled from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, this delightful event promises an array of entertainment options for all ages. Children can relish cool popsicles, dive into the refreshing sprayground, and unleash their creativity through engaging crafts and games. The festivities mark a fitting end to the season, ensuring young ones and their families make the most of the lingering warmth before the transition to fall.

For those with furry friends, “Popsicles, Playtime & Pups” goes the extra mile to make sure our four-legged companions aren’t left out. Dog owners are encouraged to bring their canine pals along to partake in a range of tailored activities. A highlight of the event is the Pup Parade, a lively procession around Jack Smith Park where costumed canines and creatively adorned floats compete for recognition.

The parade, while free, is a registered event. You can register by signing up here and searching for the code 028403.

If you’re planning to showcase your pup’s style and flair, make sure to register for the parade. Upon registration, participants will receive information about the parade rules and guidelines. Beyond the parade, the Pup-A-Razzi photo booth awaits, ready to capture your dog’s best angles. Owners can also create a cherished memento by taking home a paw print of their furry companion.

A notable feature of the event is the community-driven spirit that underscores its purpose. Attendees are encouraged to bring “back-to-school” supplies or a bag of dog food, which will be collected and distributed to Cary’s public schools and local animal shelters, respectively. It’s a heartwarming opportunity for everyone to contribute to the well-being of both the town’s children and its beloved pets.

As a special gesture for the event, the gates of the dog park at Jack Smith Park will be flung open, granting free access to all attendees and their canine companions.

For those planning to bring their dogs to the event, please remember that entrance to the Dog Park requires a waiver, which will be provided at the entrance. Additionally, the gated Dog Park entrance is accessible to adults, dogs, and children aged 13 and up.
