NC State’s College of Natural Resources expects the Piedmont (where Cary is located) to reach its best fall color from late October into early November this year. That timing can shift a little with weather, but late Oct to early Nov is the target window for Cary.
Some leaves are already beginning to turn in Cary, so you can expect to see a slow transition between now and the end of the month as we fully enter autumn.

Places in Cary to see great color
• Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve: short, hilly loops and boardwalks under hardwoods that turn vividly; start at Stevens Nature Center for maps and exhibits.
• Bond Park Lake Loop: a 2-mile shoreline path with maple and oak reflections on the water, especially good after a light rain.
• Symphony Lake Greenway at Koka Booth: flat, scenic lap with long sightlines and benches for photos.
• White Oak Creek Greenway: Take your bike and start at Bond Park to get the full experience.
