When to Catch Peak Fall Color in Cary (and Where to Go)

NC State’s College of Natural Resources expects the Piedmont (where Cary is located) to reach its best fall color from late October into early November this year. That timing can shift a little with weather, but late Oct to early Nov is the target window for Cary.

Some leaves are already beginning to turn in Cary, so you can expect to see a slow transition between now and the end of the month as we fully enter autumn.

Places in Cary to see great color

Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve: short, hilly loops and boardwalks under hardwoods that turn vividly; start at Stevens Nature Center for maps and exhibits.
Bond Park Lake Loop: a 2-mile shoreline path with maple and oak reflections on the water, especially good after a light rain.
Symphony Lake Greenway at Koka Booth: flat, scenic lap with long sightlines and benches for photos.
