Congratulations, Cary – you’ve survived an absolutely scorching North Carolina June.
Today, we enter (likely also scorching) July, which means Independence Day is right around the corner. Here’s a list of all of the 4th of July events that you should consider checking out.
Pre-4th Celebrations
Downtown Cary Park’s July 3rd Celebration
Where: 327 S. Academy St (Downtown Cary Park)
Parking: Where to Park in Downtown Cary
When: Thursday, July 3rd, 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM
What: “Aquarena” with two misters, water balloons, water blasters, and mini pools for the kiddos. VR flight simulator for the daredevils, Spikeball for the competitive ones in your family, art cart in the playground for your little creative geniuses, air gliders and stomp rockets (kids can take home a gliding plane while supplies last), paper airplane competition, a screening of Top Gun, and more! Four food trucks will also be on-site.

On the Homefront – Cary Town Band Concert
Where: 101 Dry Ave (Cary Arts Center)
Parking: Where to Park in Downtown Cary
When: Thursday, July 3rd, 7:30 PM
What: The Cary Town Band will perform On the Homefront, a free concert highlighting the historical role of music in military life. The program features instruments such as drums, fifes, bugles, and banjos, which have traditionally accompanied troops during training and movement. It also explores how music at home has reflected cultural values and supported military families throughout history.

4th of July Celebrations (non-fireworks)
Independence Day Fishing Tournament
Where: 197 Bond Park Dr (Bond Park Boathouse)
When: Friday, July 4th, 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM (registration at 7:00 AM)
What: An all-ages fishing tournament will be held at Bond Park the morning of Independence Day. There will be prizes for the longest and shortest fish of each age group.
4th of July Celebrations (Fireworks!)
Independence Day Celebration
Where: 8003 Regency Pkwy (Koka Booth)
When: Gates open at 3:30 PM, fireworks begin at 9:25 PM.
Parking: There’s limited free parking available at Koka Booth (tip: get there before the gates open! The parking lot opens at 2:30 PM). You can pay for preferred parking ahead of time for $20, or pay $25 at the gate if they are still available. Local office buildings near Koka Booth usually offer paid parking as well.
What: This is the big fireworks show. This free event will surely be very popular so make sure you get there early to get a good spot! While you can bring your own food (and beer/wine), there will be many food vendors on-site to satisfy whatever you’re craving. The North Carolina Symphony will perform live before the fireworks show over the lake.
