The very first events have been announced for the new Downtown Cary Park, including a big ribbon cutting ceremony, and a kick off to the holiday season.

The ambitious Downtown Cary Park has announced the very first events that will be hosted there, as well as confirmed the ribbon cutting date of November 19th, which was previously announced last month by Mayor Weinbrecht.

Here is what we know so far:

November 19th: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Downtown Cary Park program specialist Jennifer Armstrong states in the new promotional video that the event will feature live music, performers, a Bandit Flight Team flyover, art activities, a synchronized light show, and more. It’s worth noting that while this is the official grand opening celebration of the park, it could open to the public a few days prior.

December 2nd: A Gift to Cary Celebration

Adam Bell, programming supervisor for Downtown Cary Park, says in the same video that the “A Gift to Cary Celebration” will kick off the holiday season on December 2nd. The park will add holiday lights, displays, a skating rink, photos with Santa, a holiday workshop, and more. Cary’s annual tree-lighting event will also take place during this day at the park.

After over 20 years of planning, the opening date seems to be just around the corner. You can read more about the park by visiting the official website here.
