I created this organization with one simple goal in mind: help keep the sense of community in Cary, NC.

I would like to start this memo by thanking you, the reader, for taking the time out of your day to understand more about The Cary Times, and also for wanting to learn more about your community in general.

I created this organization with one simple goal in mind: help keep the sense of community in Cary, NC.

Before social media, local newspapers were the bridge of communication between the citizen and their hometown. Today, most people get their news off of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Being always connected is not necessarily a bad thing, and you are able to talk to your neighbor easier than it ever has been before.

There are, however, downsides of only getting your updates through social media. The news that you consume on a website like Facebook is not curated and can be misleading or incorrect, big news organizations control what news you consume while smaller organizations are not represented well, and you lose that sense of community you receive by reading news stories covered by local journalists that live inside of your neighborhood. The Cary Times wants to bring back that sense of community given by local news networks by covering stories that matter to you, which we know matter to you because we live in the same place as you.

From the new Fenton development opening their doors next week to the closure of the Cary Towne Center, our little suburb looks quite different than it did ten years ago! The goal of The Cary Report is to keep you informed about these changes, by people who are directly impacted by those changes, and also to help keep our wonderful sense of community as our town grows.

Stay tuned,

James Tuliano
