Here’s what is going on this week in Cary:
On Saturday, 06/10, Cary will be running its annual Pimento Cheese Festival in Downtown Cary. A number of food trucks will be lined up around Academy Street, serving dishes focused on Cary’s favorite cheese. This is a fun event for all ages, with live music, a cheese sculpting contest, and more. The event will run 11am to 4pm.
The town is running a survey to help develop safer biking infrastructure. If you would like to get involved with this important issue, please take the quick survey linked above. There is also an interactive map that you can fill out and show where you like to bike, where you would like to bike if the area had safer bike infrastructure, and where you feel unsafe biking. This will be very helpful for the Cary Bike and Micromobility Plan, and even if you aren’t an avid cyclist, your response is still important!
Great Trail Day at the American Tobacco Trail
On Saturday from 10:00AM – 2:00PM, Cary, Durham, and Wake County are celebrating Great Trail Day at the American Tobacco Trail. You can park at 2575 New Hope Church Road (the New Hope Church Road Trailhead) where there will be informational booths, a food truck, and inflatables for the kids. If you’re interested in covering some ground, make sure you bring your bike and set off on the trail after enjoying a snack at the trailhead.
The smoke from the wildfires in Canada is leaking through the Eastern United States, and Cary is experiencing poor air quality as a result. From Tuesday (June 6th) through Friday (June 9th), an air quality advisory is in effect, and it is recommended for those with respiratory issues to take try to avoid spending too much time outside during this time, as the air can trigger asthma or coughing in some individuals.
