To celebrate the day after Independence Day, The Cary Report ran a poll on Instagram asking where you can grab the best burger in Cary. We initially ran a write-in option and then ran a multiple-choice poll with the top 3 write-ins that we received. The race was incredibly close, and you can’t go wrong with any of these options, but only one can be the winner.
Here are the results!
3. Abbey Road Tavern & Grill (27% of votes)
Address: 1195 W Chatham St
Menu: Click to view
Coming in at third place is Abbey Road Tavern & Grill. There is a Cary and Apex location, but we’re The Cary Report, so we’re only talking about the Cary spot. Open seven days a week from 11:00 AM – 2:00 AM, you can expect a pretty extensive menu and a lively sports bar atmosphere, including an outdoor space where you can frequently watch a live band perform. If you’re a Beatles lover, you’ll appreciate all of the memorabilia they have hanging up all over the establishment.
But enough about the atmosphere, the food is why you’re here. Abbey Road is perhaps best known for its wings, but they also have one of the best burgers in town. The Carolina Burger has the typical diced onions and American cheese, but also coleslaw and chili, making it a unique local favorite. Pair the burger with their beloved onion rings and you’ll be sure to leave full and happy.
2. Crosstown Pub & Grill (34% of votes)
Address: 154 E Chatham St
Menu: Click to view
Second place goes to Crosstown Pub & Grill, located in the heart of downtown. You are doing a serious disservice to yourself if you haven’t been to Crosstown yet and live in Cary. The location makes it ideal for walking around before or after your meal so that you can explore Cary’s booming downtown, and they have a lovely outdoor section where your pup can come along with you for your meal.
This article is about burgers, but it would feel wrong to mention Crosstown and not talk about their fish & chips. You will be hard-pressed to find a better fish & chips meal in America, let alone Cary. Okay, I’ve said my piece.
Crosstown is home to a great burger. They have a turkey burger, a black bean burger, and of course, the classic hamburger. You can add a number of extra toppings to your burger, and each one comes with excellent steak fries (which you can substitute for pub chips, tomato rice, or cole slaw for no extra charge if that isn’t your jam). You really can’t go wrong with anything on Crosstown’s menu, but their burgers are some of the best choices you can pick.
1. Corbett’s Burgers and Soda Bar (39% of votes)
Address: 126 Kilmayne Dr
Menu: Click to view
It doesn’t get more classic than Corbett’s Burgers and Soda Bar. Corbett’s is hyper-focused on burgers, and they have perfected their craft. They also sell unique hot dogs (the BBQ Soda Dog is bacon-wrapped Nathan’s, Cheerwine BBQ sauce, grilled onions, and cheddar cheese) and sell 250 different glass bottles of soda. This is a great place for the whole family and has a lovely old-school atmosphere.
The other places on this list are amazing in their own right, but if you’re looking for a good burger, Cary agrees that this is the place. These burgers are juicy, to say the least, but the sauces really set them apart. The specialty burgers will come with a specific sauce, but you can also customize your own. Some favorites include the Southern Burger, which comes with American cheese, buttermilk coleslaw, chili, mustard, and onions, and the Good Morning Burger, which has American cheese, fried egg, lettuce, tomato, sodalicious orange sauce & hickory smoked bacon drizzled with maple syrup.
