When it comes to the safety of our little ones, every precaution counts. That’s why the launch of “Baby Proofing Pros” is a cause for celebration. Founded by Cary residents Brandon and Luisa Scott, this local business is dedicated to providing a safer environment for children and giving parents peace of mind right here in our own community.

Starting Baby Proofing Pros

“What inspired me to get into baby proofing was the birth of our daughter, who is now 17 months old. As I began the process of babyproofing our home, I quickly became overwhelmed with the multitude of things to consider. I didn’t know what to look for, how to properly install safety devices, and I had
difficulty finding high-quality equipment,” explains Brandon. “After months of trial and error with various products, I reached a point of frustration. I couldn’t help but think that there had to be a better and more effective way to approach baby-proofing. I was convinced that I couldn’t be the only parent facing these challenges.”

And Brandon was right. After doing some research, the couple discovered someone who had been running a successful baby-proofing business in Houston, Texas, which they started 30 years ago.

That company is called Precious Baby Protectors and they have worked on over 12k homes.

“I decided to fly out to Texas and shadow him for a week. During that time, I absorbed a wealth of information and skills that I knew could benefit new parents in North Carolina.” Brandon tells us.

Certification Process

Their commitment to excellence is highlighted by their certification in “home hazard identification training” by the International Association for Child Safety (IAFCS). This certification ensures that they possess the expertise to identify potential risks and provide effective solutions. The online exam covers fall hazards, choking hazards, anchoring furniture, drowning hazards, and more.

Common Household Hazards and Proofing Them

Even the simplest things you can find in any home can be a potential hazard for a child. Toilets, for example, can pose a drowning risk to curious children who haven’t fully developed the strength to help themselves if they fall in.

“Toilet lid locks are another essential feature I offer. They effectively prevent children from falling face down into the toilet, which can be particularly dangerous for young children who may struggle to get upright and face the risk of drowning,” Brandon explains. “By installing toilet lid locks, I provide parents with peace of mind, knowing that this potential hazard is mitigated.”

Home Safety Evaluation

At Baby Proofing Pros, their $100 home safety evaluation is the cornerstone of their services. This comprehensive assessment allows parents and caregivers to gain valuable insights into the potential hazards within their homes. “By conducting a thorough evaluation, we ensure that no potential risks are left unattended. We provide expert recommendations tailored to the specific needs of each household, considering factors like layout, furniture placement, and the age and developmental stage of the child,” Brandon and Luisa explained.

After conducting the evaluation, parents can choose to use that $100 toward any of their additional services, such as toilet lid locking, cabinet securing, furniture anchoring, and more. Otherwise, they will have a report of everything they will need to do in order to baby-proof their home.

Conclusion

“At the end of the day, seeing happy, satisfied parents and knowing that their child is safe and protected is the driving force behind what I do. It motivates me to continue offering top-quality services and helping more families experience the peace of mind they deserve.”
